Leaking Roofs

Damp patches on ceilings and walls are a tell tale sign of roof problems.

Checking a roofs condition could save you a lot of money, as a leaking roof may well cause damage to not only the roof felt and timbers but also affect the internal walls of your house as well.

Whether you have noticed signs of damp or just want to keep things in check, the best way to view your roof is to use binoculars, by standing in your garden or street, inspect the roof for loose or missing tiles, check guttering and any defective or missing flashing, which is the lead that is used where the roof adjoins any parapet walls or chimney stack. Check also to that the parapet wall and chimney are not leaning.

You can also do internal checks, by making sure all main timbers are dry and solid and all joints tight and no signs of damage from rot or insects.
